Higher Education

The NCWIT Higher Ed Alliance (HiEA) seeks to broaden participation in computing by connecting with faculty and staff in computing programs across the country. We accomplish this through a three-pronged approach that includes building community among like-minded colleagues, educating on promising practices, and equipping them with tools to make data-driven decisions and effect systemic change.

Higher Education

Supporting students’ computing education is a team effort: faculty, staff, and administration are all responsible for creating inclusive processes and environments. NCWIT offers ways to structure curriculum for student success, to understand and combat the effects of unconscious bias and stereotype threat, to examine recruitment and retention trends, to identify problem areas, measure progress, and more.

Join the Alliance

Higher Ed Alliance members can gain support from social scientists and connect to a network of like-minded colleagues dedicated to broadening participation in computing, through the annual NCWIT Summit and other convenings.

Members have opportunities to access actionable promising practices, receive guidance in applying evidence-based strategies for leading systemic change, participate in learning events, and volunteer for NCWIT outreach and recognition programs.
