We all attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing 2007 conference recently, and hats off to the Anita Borg Institute for doing such a super job of running the conference — it was a phenomenal event. (I was general chair of the conference, so I might be biased!)
I had to speak several times during the event and during one set of remarks, for reasons I can’t really explain, I thought it would be entertaining to recite a list of computing words that begin with the letter “P”. Several people have written me since and asked me to repeat them, so I thought i would pass them along via blog. Here goes:
Programming Parenthesis Pipe Pascal Powerpoint Pearl PHP Python Process Parameter Pointer Pop Push Port Postscript PPP Printer Procedure Proxy Protocol Prototype PDP-11 Portability Precedence Paging Packet Parallelism Parity Peer-to-Peer PC Peripheral PDA Password Pixal Prefix Postfix Polish notation Processor Ping Printf Punched card Podcast
and last but not least …
Polymorphism.
What’s up with computer science and the letter “P”?
