Scott McCrickard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech, and a member of Virginia Tech’s Center for Human-Computer Interaction.  

His research interests include notification systems, design methods for interfaces, peripheral and secondary displays, and interfaces for mobile computing devices.   McCrickard actively promotes greater inclusion of people from underrepresented groups in and computing, most notably through outreach efforts to undergraduates at women’s colleges and historically black colleges.  McCrickard received the NCWIT Research Mentoring Award for his work with women and minority undergraduate students, and he is an active member of NCWIT and Pacesetters.
