Georgia Papathomas has more than 35 years of experience in health, life sciences, telecommunications, and technology, and is an active investor, advisor, and board member with a focus on the healthcare and technology sectors. Dr. Papathomas also serves on the Executive Board of the National Center for Women & Information Technology; on the Board of Visitors of the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; and on the Board of Homeless Solutions.
Dr. Papathomas retired from J&J as the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Data Sciences with responsibilities for establishing the J&J Data Sciences Strategy, including the planning, and the implementation of plans for the use of sophisticated analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities across J&J.
Prior to this position, Georgia was the Chief Information Officer for Janssen, the J&J Pharmaceutical Companies, and a member of the J&J Pharmaceuticals Group Operating Committee (GOC). She led the company’s Global Information Technology organization, strategy, and execution worldwide. She also led Janssen’s development of Digital Health Solutions designed to improve the continuum of patient care.
Prior to joining J&J, Georgia held the position of Senior Vice President-Chief Information Officer and Corporate Innovation Officer at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.
Georgia has also worked at Pfizer as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for EMEA and as Vice President-Global Customer Service Management and at Lucent Technologies as Vice President-Global Professional Services/Network Solutions. Dr. Papathomas started her career as a researcher at AT&T Bell Labs.
Georgia is also a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the Sigma Xi Research Honor Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the CIO Research Board.
Georgia received her PhD, MS, and BS from Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
