Shelby Capacio is a digital designer, editor, and journalist who spent many years producing national news and specializing in topics related to education and sustainable technology. What began with coding customized blogs and websites on their mom’s laptop as a teenager has since blossomed into an award-winning career in online content creation. Shelby holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, currently lives in Minneapolis, and is looking forward to pursuing advanced degrees in STEM fields. 

As Communications Coordinator with NCWIT, Shelby networks with media representatives, assists with keeping NCWIT’s websites up-to-date, fosters outreach via social media, and creates promotional materials for programs and events. Drawing on past experience in magazine production, they also assist with print publications and physical media as well. Shelby is passionate about proactively designing for accessibility and inclusion, and enjoys transcribing audio captions of NCWIT video content for accuracy, including the annual NCWIT Summit.
