The Power of Technology in Action

I was fortunate enough to attend the 44th Presidential Inauguration last week in Washington, D.C. As our new president was speaking and the excitement of the crowd grew, it struck me how well the Obama campaign has used technology to bring about this momentous occasion.
I was overseas for much of the year leading up to the election, but nonetheless cannot count the number of opportunities I was given to communicate with, contribute to, and engage with the Obama campaign via social media. Likewise the preparation for the inauguration offered countless ways for Americans to join the celebration and it used IT to bring people together both in the capitol and at home for celebrations and service events.
I am looking forward to seeing how the Obama administration continues to harness Web 2.0 to recreate the sense of community our country has been missing, and make good on his promises of change.
