John Fink is a research associate at the Community College Research Center (CCRC), Teachers College, Columbia University. He conducts research on student course-taking and enrollment patterns, two- and four-year institution transfer partnerships, high school dual enrollment students, and implementation and impacts of “guided pathways” reforms.
John co-authored the inaugural Tracking Transfer report presenting new metrics and national findings on state and institutional transfer performance (now annually released by the National Student Clearinghouse), the Transfer Playbook detailing the essential practices of high-performing transfer partnerships, and a national study of the community college transfer pathway to a computer science bachelor’s degree.
Prior to joining CCRC, John advised transfer students and created a comprehensive support program for community college transfer students at the University of Maryland, College Park. John holds a MA in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
