Areas of Expertise: Technology access equity, social and cultural aspects of educational systems, and qualitative research methodologies.

Dr. Angela Arndt is committed to promoting technological access equity in educational systems, in the workplace, and in the community. As an Extension Services Consultant with the National Center for Women and Information Technology, Dr. Arndt works with universities to create systemic changes to increase recruitment and retention of women in computer science and engineering programs. Through purposeful systems design and high-quality implementation, access equity is possible.

Dr. Arndt earned her Ph.D. in Educational Studies in Human Learning and Development at the University of Cincinnati. She studied curriculum design, assessment and evaluation, digital research methods, and technology in community contexts. Her research is documented in her book “Touching Mercury in Community Media: Identifying Multiple Literacy Learning Through Digital Arts Production.” She earned a Certification in Program Assessment and Evaluation and is experienced in evaluating NSF-funded STEM social science research projects. Her research methods are participatory action-based and use appreciative inquiry methods to identify what is working and then expand it.

Dr. Arndt earned her M.A. in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago, where her thesis production was awarded an Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. She produced commercial and educational media for many years in Chicago. Her B.S. in Arts Management and Marketing is from Eastern Michigan University, where she learned non-profit organizational development and fundraising.

In her teaching, Dr. Arndt focuses on adult learners in college, in the workplace, and in the community. Her focus areas include human development across the lifespan, social aspects of educational systems, qualitative research methods, and teacher training. She has worked for more than a decade designing curriculum and teaching in online environments. Her professional trainings include technology and organizational development. Her most joyful work is in the community, where she teaches the basics of technology usage to older adults.
