Kathryn S. McKinley is a Distinguished Software Engineer at Google. She works on obtainability and efficiency for Google’s global infrastructure. She was previously a Principal Researcher at Microsoft and an Endowed Professor at The University of Texas at Austin. Her teams’ award winning research spans cloud systems, programming languages, compilers, runtime systems, and architecture. She and her collaborators have produced widely used systems: the DaCapo Java Benchmarks (30,000+ downloads), the TRIPS Compiler, the Hoard memory manager, the MMTk memory management toolkit, Jikes RVM, the Immix garbage collector, and the SHIM profiler. She is an IEEE Fellow, ACM Fellow, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
