The AI Advantage: Enhancing the College Application Process 

This session will prepare attendees to use AI tools to assist their students through the college application process by helping them navigate institutional AI policies, use AI responsibly, protect their privacy, and streamline tasks like writing recommendation letters. 

Meet the Presenters

Dr. Jennifer Kirk is the High School Counseling Curriculum Leader and a School Counselor at Upper St. Clair School District (PA), where she has supported students for more than 20 years. A Pittsburgh native, she earned degrees in Psychology, Counseling, and Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership from Northeastern University. Over her 27-year career in education, Dr. Kirk has been recognized as Pennsylvania High School Counselor of the Year, a College Board Nationally Recognized Counselor, and a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, among other honors. She also serves as a Counselor Educator at Florida Gulf Coast University and is a frequent presenter on leadership, equity, and career planning. Her expertise has been shared nationally, including an appearance on NBC Nightly News. This fall, Dr. Kirk will present The AI Edge at the NACAC Conference in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Kelsey Kman currently serves as the Program Manager for NCWIT Counselors for Computing. Kelsey is passionate about engaging diverse interests in the computer science field. She advocates for increased access to computer science skills for all students. Kelsey holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a M.Ed in School Counseling from Millersville University. In her spare time, Kelsey is an assistant coach for Girls On The Run, an active member of a Young Professionals group in her town and is currently learning how to write code!
