Counseling 2.0 | Career Ready Students
Join NCWIT Counselors for Computing (C4C) at Tuskegee University, and NCWIT Higher Ed Alliance institution, for a two-day intensive professional development opportunity. This workshop is specifically designed for Alabama school counselors and career coaches to empower participants with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively guide students toward computing education, development, and awareness of necessary computing skills in all career fields. Participants will gain insights into the importance of CS, learn practical recruiting strategies, and understand the implications of Alabama’s upcoming Computer Science graduation requirement. Through interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and expert guidance, attendees will leave equipped to broaden students’ participation in computing and prepare them for the future of work.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the importance of computer science education and its relevance to all students.
- Identify effective strategies for recruiting and supporting students in CS pathways.
- Explain the Alabama CS graduation requirement and its implications for student preparation.
- Utilize resources and tools to guide students toward the skills necessary for future careers in this digital world.
- Network with peers and share best practices for promoting CS education.
- Earn professional development hours and travel reimbursement.
