Ella Ingram joined Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a member of the Biology and Biomedical Engineering Department in 2004, then assumed duties in the Center for the Practice and Scholarship of Education in 2013. She was appointed to the Associate Dean position in 2017. Throughout her career at Rose-Hulman, she has blended her teaching with the scholarship of teaching and faculty development. She has been active in initiatives to support change efforts in engineering education and beyond, including NSF’s REvolutionizing engineering and computer science Departments (RED), the Making Academic Change Happen initiative, and the NSF-supported Dissertation Institute. Dr. Ingram has given workshops across the nation and webinars on such varied topics as “Making Writing Manageable,” “Bringing Others Along with Influence and Motivation,” and “Building Strategic Networks – Mentors and More”. Dr. Ingram’s publications on student and faculty development have appeared in the CBE Life Science Education, American Biology Teaching, Journal of Research in College Teaching, and Journal of College Science Teaching. In 2016, she was honored as an Honorary Alumna of Rose-Hulman, and in 2017, she earned Rose-Hulman’s Outstanding Scholar award.
