Team Up for a Brighter Future

This fall, NCWIT’s K-12 programs are excited to team up to amplify the great work already underway. Throughout the month of September, we’ll share resources, lesson plans, opportunities to get involved, and inspiring stories from our community to inspire, engage, and empower formal and informal educators, school counselors, and the students they serve. This will lead up to a collaborative webinar, Team Up! For a Brighter Future. Aspirations in Computing, Counselors for Computing, and Teach Engineering each have their own focus area, and uniting behind a shared platform will help us reach a wider audience.

Inspire, Engage, and Empower

Aspirations in Computing supports persistence, identity, and confidence in high school, college, and graduate students in computing and engineering by providing inspiration, recognition, community, and a layered support system that engages educators and other adult influencers. The AiC community is the largest free network for students and professionals who are marginalized by gender. Each year, AiC recognizes thousands of students and educators for their interests, achievements, and contributions.

Counselors for Computing provides the essential training and resources to help high school professional counselors overcome a lack of information about computing fields, and activates them to play a critical role in broadening participation in computing and technology fields by guiding more students toward these exciting careers. Teach Engineering helps all educators (home schoolers, parents, etc) bring STEM subjects to life through its expansive free library of classroom-tested, standards-aligned resources. By introducing students to STEM subjects using hands-on activities, ready-to-use lesson plans, and videos, TE builds problem-solving skills and engages and inspires students to explore STEM education and careers.
