Dr. Renée Jordan, an accomplished professional with over 16 years in education, currently serves as the Associate Director for Operations, Finances, and Compliance at the Morehouse College Center for Broadening Participation in Computing (CBPC). Holding a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology with a focus on Instructional Design from Georgia State University, Dr. Jordan also earned a Master of Public Policy in Social Policy-Education Policy from GSU and a Master of Education in Secondary Education-Curriculum Specialist from Bowie State University. Her educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hood College.
Dr. Jordan’s extensive career includes seven years as a high school Biology teacher, during which she not only taught but also conducted training sessions for fellow educators on technology integration. Her commitment to advancing education through technology continued during her three-year tenure as the Instructional Technologist at Morehouse College. Engaging with an NSF grant, the AMAYS (Acquainting Metro Atlanta Youth with STEM) project. during a 3-year Graduate Research Assistantship, Dr. Jordan presented her research at numerous conferences. In April 2023, Dr. Jordan received the Outstanding Dissertation in Learning Technologies Award from the Department of Learning Sciences, College of Education & Human Development at GSU. The title of her dissertation was Digital Tales from the Cutting-Room Floor: Learning How to Design Instruction from Latinas, Afro-Latinas, and Black Women in Tech.
Bringing five years of experience in U.S. Department of Education Title III grant administration, Dr. Jordan joined the Morehouse College CBPC at its October 2022 launch. As a part of her CBPC responsibilities, Dr. Jordan serves as the Project Manager for the Institute for African American Mentoring in Computing Sciences NSF grant where she collaborates with Dr. Kinnis Gosha, who is the Principal Investigator, CBPC Executive Director & Chief Research Scientist, Software Engineering Degree Program Director and her supervisor. This new role seamlessly integrates her skills as an educator, researcher, and experienced grant administrator, further contributing to the CBPCs mission of broadening participation in computing.
