Sharon Simmons is the Computer Science Department Head at James Madison University. Dr. Simmons received her B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and her PhD in Computer Science from William and Mary.

Prior to JMU, Dr. Simmons was an associate professor at the University of West Florida.

Her research areas include comprehension of distributed systems and networking. Ongoing research projects include the Feature Location problem and real time instrumentation of large software systems.
