Katherine Wetmur is a Managing Director and the Chief Information Officer for Cyber, Data, Risk and Resilience at Morgan Stanley; in this role, she oversees global efforts to strengthen cybersecurity, enhance data governance, and advance operational resilience; she leads the Firm’s first-line defenses for cyber and fraud risk and is responsible for the Firmwide Data Office, Non-Financial Risk Technology, and our International Technology offices.

Katherine partners with business and technology leaders worldwide to address evolving threats, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard the Firm’s data integrity.

Since joining Morgan Stanley in 2002, Katherine has held several senior technology leadership roles, including International Chief Information Officer and Head of Reliability & Production Engineering for the Firm’s Institutional and Corporate businesses.

Katherine holds a B.S. in Materials Science from Rice University.

Katherine co-chairs the Firm’s Pride and Ally Network; she was a founding member of Women in Technology (WIT) and is an active mentor, championing LGBTQ+ visibility, and expanding access to STEM education for underrepresented groups.

Beyond the Firm, she serves on the Board of Sheltered Harbor, Analysis & Resilience Center (ARC) and SustainableIT.org.

Her leadership has been recognized by Financial News’ Top 100 Women in Finance (2019, 2020) and Fast Company’s Queer50 list (2023, 2024).
